Brewing & Drinking Green Tea
Brewing a delicious cup (or glass) of green tea isn’t exactly rocket science. However, there are a few things you should know in order to get the best results possible.
Use Pure Water
Impurities in regular tap water will affect the flavor of the tea. Use natural spring water or filtered water to ensure the best taste possible.
Water Temperature & Steeping Time
If the water temperature is too hot, the tea may become bitter. Preferred temperature for green tea is usually usually between 165 and 170 degrees F, which is roughly the temperature you’ll get if you let boiling water sit for a few minutes.
For best taste, let green tea steep for a short time period of 2-3 minutes. The longer the steeping time, the higher the chances of the tea becoming bitter.
Note: Research has shown that steeping green tea in boiling water for a longer period of 3-5 minutes increases the polyphenol antioxidant content of the tea. This may lead to a slightly bitter taste but the tea will have more health benefits.

Teabags
Portable, convenient, and mess-free, teabags are perfect for on-the-go and the times when you don’t want to bother with loose leaf tea. Be aware that cheap teabags often contain small, dusty leaves from floor sweepings that release tannin quickly, making the tea taste harsh. This problem is less likely if you purchase quality green tea from a reputable company.
Loose Leaf Green Tea
Tea purists will probably want to hang us for even mentioning teabags. To keep them off our back we definitely have to mention that you’ll get the best quality tea and the finest flavor from loose leaf Oolong.
The drawback from brewing Oolong from loose leaves is the extra work involved. However, many people enjoy the process so much that they wouldn’t have it any other way. In fact, brewing tea is a delicate art that is centuries old.
Using an Infuser

A tea infuser is a wonderful invention that allows you the excellent flavor and quality of loose leaf tea with minimal fuss. Some tea infusers are small and meant for one-person use while others are large and used for an entire teapot. Either way, using an infuser and loose leaf tea is one of our favorite methods for brewing and drinking green tea.
Brewing Green Tea the Traditional Way
